Swami Ramdev Yoga : Amritsar Police adopts Swami Ramdev Yoga to improve its functioning

Policeman in Amritsar has adopted Yoga to improve police functioning by increasing the efficiency of the manpower by reducing stress, fatigue and obesity. This experiment is aiming to better police public relations and improved police behavior and to give patience hearing to public, said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amritsar Kanwar Vijay Partap Singh. One week long Yoga camp was concluded today whereupon, more than 500 police officers of various ranks right from Constable to SSP participated apart from school teachers and commoners. The camp was organized in collaboration with Amritsar Chapter of Patanjali Yog Vidyapeeth Hardwar (founded by Swami Ramdev).

The 2008 edition of DSF is all set to take thousands of enthusiasts through a three-day holistic sojourn as Swami Ramdev conducts the Eurostar yoga camp. The yoga camp will be conducted at the Airport Expo Dubai, between 6.00 am and 8.30 am, from 25 to 27 January, 2008. The yoga exponent has recently conducted highly successful workshops in the US, Britain, East Africa and Canada. Swami Ramdev will demonstrate breathing exercises which will provide relief to people suffering from diabetes, asthma, bronchitis, leucoderma, depression, Parkinson's Disease, insomnia, migraine, hypertension, high cholesterol, hyperthyroidism, arthritis, cervical spondylitis, hepatitis, chronic renal failure, cancer, cirrhosis of liver, gastric troubles, constipation and acidity.

Swami Ramdev accepts IMA challenge to cure Cancer patients

Popular yoga guru Ramdev has accepted the Indian Medical Association's (IMA) challenge to cure cancer patients and allow clinical trials of his treatment within three years. 'I have already cured hundreds of patients and presented the medical records of 35 of them to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS),' Ramdev told a panel of IMA members during an interaction organized by the Nagpur Union of Working Journalists here Sunday. The interaction was held after the yoga guru Saturday called for a face-to-face discussion with IMA president-elect Ashok Adhaoo in response to the latter's challenge to him a day earlier to cure a representative sample of cancer patients in Maharashtra's Nagpur town, about 850 km from state capital Mumbai. He told reporters: 'I have treated cases from the graveyard - the ones the doctors have given up on and those in the rehabilitation and palliation stage.' Indian Medical Association criticises Swami Ramdev

IMA has criticised Yoga guru Ramdev for remarks against doctors practicing modern medicine and claims on cancer cure. IMA said that Swami Ramdev had allegedly remarked during an recent yoga camp in Nagpur that doctors are "propagators of diseases and are encashing on patients' illness". The apex body of medicos has challenged the popular guru over his claims of curing diseases such as cancer and AIDS through yogic methods like pranayama (a breathing exercise). Acknowledging the importance of yoga, IMA functionaries pointed out that every medical stream has its advantages, disadvantages and limitations, and said there should be mutual respect for doctors practicing different methods.
