Bihar has been hit very badly by floods. The people are having the worst of times. Devoid of even the basic necessities of life, the people of Bihar look forward to help from the Union and State governments and also from NGOs.
The areas of Banmankhi and Purnea have been hit by epidemic diseases such as gastroenteritis and diarrhoea. Volunteer medical teams (of NGO Janlakshya) comprising of doctors and nurses have been ordered to leave by the state government, and officially the task of treating flood victims has been given to Baba Ram Dev’s Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust. SDO of the area, Keshav Singh, confirmed this news and advocated the decision of the state government.
Baba Ramdev opposes allopathy and allopathic medicines. This had led to the removal of doctors from these areas. Besides providing the flood victims with food and other basic amenities, Patanjali Yogpeeth will also be imparting yoga lessons to the flood victims.
